Canon AE-1 Program first try.

Tuesday 23 December 2014

Few weeks ago I bought a new camera, which is Canon AE-1 Program. I have been looking everywhere for that camera. I was determined and not meant to back down until I could hold it in my hands. This cam means a new photography era for me. I had been photographing with Praktica MTL 3 for more than a year, and it's been a fantastic experience. Something that made me want to explore analog photography even further. That Canon is surely a step forward for this blog and for myself. It came with a regular Canon 1.8 50mm lens, and it's actually a new thing for me to be shooting such lens since I only relied on my 58mm for a long time. AE-1 Program was a camera that had been recommended to me by lots of people, and I cannot be happier to finally own it! :)

I know we have lots of work to do, and it will take me awhile to get used to shooting new device. I find it superb for once not focusing too much on lightning conditions and being able to shoot faster, more efficiently. It's easier to finish a roll this way as I don't miss too many chances while only doing the focus work. Damn, now I realize I even love the sound of the shutter!

I am very happy with how sharp the images are, and the blurred background looks fine too! It gives you an additional boost of confidence when shooting, when it takes you less time to decide whether you're going to take that photograph or not (and this one was all about changing the iso). All in all, I think I love this Canon. It sort of made me fall in love with photography all over again. Oh and it's definitely a gorgeous one! As per usual, I am going to leave you with some photographs, so you can see it all for yourself.

On the other hand though, sadly, 50mm is not suitable for close ups (food for example), which I love. So I might be forced into buying a new lens for that camera in future, just to meet my own needs.

Merry Christmas!!!
( + before you leave, Christmas card reveal!)

Byłam zdeterminowana by go mieć, tak, akurat ten. Tak, dokładnie czarną wersję. Oznacza on dla mnie początek nowej fotograficznej ery.

  6. So good to get a new camera! I got a new lens from my bf as an early christmas present and I’m so excited. :)
For next year my plans are to spend a little more money on buying a new lighter camera. I can’t afford to lose quality but I must lose some weight to be carried all around!

    1. I totally get you, dear! All those cameras are so heavy to just carry around on the daily basis. I swear, whenever I leave my cam at home, I miss a couple of awesome moments that I could capture and I regret not taking it with me instantly! :)

  8. I have my parents old Canon AE-1. I haven't really used it much though I probably should! It's kind of sad how they had this wonderful camera and then switched to crappy point and shoots in the 90s.

  15. One word: wow! I have a Canon 500N and the thing I love the most about it is the quality of the lens and the sharpness of the images, but I don't use as much as my Yashica mainly because it's almost fully automatic and the shutter sound is a bit meh. Oh well, Merry Christmas, my dear! xo
