little daily disappointments.

Sunday 7 September 2014

Kaffka Bistro has been around for over two months. we decided to visit at the end of August, giving it some time to grow and expand. By looking at the photographs of Kaffka, I got an impression that this is just the kind of a place I am going to love. White brick walls, Instagram snaps on little strings, big table, some work space, little birdy details. Sugar with white rose petals and lavender. Oh my. This is why this post is going to be filled with so much sorrow, because I really set my expectations high this time.

At first we planned to visit for a little breakfast, name 'bistro' indicated that it might be possible, it was not Kaffka Cafe, I thought and dreamed of some eggs or sandwiches or at least big variety of cakes and cookies. People were pretty positive about that place, Internet told me. Then our plans changed a little and we just wanted to grab a lovely cappucino before departing. Such a great place for two of my worlds colliding. I thought we would enjoy some quality time over good coffee.

When we entered, the interior just screamed at me, saying "Hipster place!" & "Just way till you see our big menu." Well, nope. As we entered the disappointments started. Because with a huge number of cafes and bistros with nicely designed interiors, it is just not enough. We wanted food and coffee, and we wanted it fast. Pretty lady at the counter awaited our order, as I was looking up and down the chalkboard above her head. Up & down, nothing. Okay then, I said. Three of us got frappucinos with syrup. And this is it. They had like two cake options, which did not really attract our attention. Two cake options and nothing else to eat. I felt sad and sat next to my fam, biting on my tongue. I took a few photographs and waited to be amazed by the coffee. It landed in front of me and again, nothing special, few sips in did not change my opinion. My ladies finished their coffees, as I struggled to do so, because of all the unblended ice in my cup. Once again, not good. As for the quality of the coffee, way too overpriced.

What do you do in moments like that? Fortunately, B is filled with cafes and bistros that actually deliver their promises ;) Speak soon, my friends, and if you'd like to advertise on my blog, check your options in the sidebar. (Ad swaps are available too!)

  1. aww too bad that their menu is not good enough. looking through your pictures of the place, i would want to go there too. it's just really disappointing when a bistro or cafe with nice ambiance and nice decor doesn't have a good content of f&b.

  10. It's such a lovely looking place, but, really, calling bistro to a place that serves two types of cakes doesn't make much sense and gives way to bad experiences that could very easily be fixed by adding just a bit more savoury stuff to the menu.

  12. I started drinking coffee some years back because I really wanted to be within beautiful interiors. But that is just not enough anymore... The food and coffee must be good too. I hope you find a nice cafe to make up for the disappointment here :)
