falling in love with the city

Thursday, 18 September 2014

Four days in the capital gave me a chance to experience its light touch upon my heart. It was nice for the first time not to be weighted down by my luggage, but instead walking freely, taking photographs and enjoying myself. I had a list of places to visit while in Warsaw, places recommended by friends and picked while browsing the internet opinions.

I wanted to thank M & P for having us and giving us an opportunity to explore the city, its different tastes including Indian food, soya milk and gluten free brownie, and making me sweat my heart out during our bike ride (first bike ride in the last 6 years of my life, just whoa). I ate to my absolute limits. My stomach hated me for it, but I refused to give up on the spinach dumplings before they were all gone from my plate.

Both of my lenses had something to do during this trip. 58mm is perfect for closer shots and it needs just a little less light than 28mm. The latter is perfect for travelling though, since it captures more and it is very important when photographing architecture, for example. We make a very happy family, my Helioses and I. We saw the Old Town, gardens on top of the University's library (very charming place), Coppernicus Science Center where we spent 6 hours (!!!), shopping centers, a little place called 'Makaroni' where I ate some delicious penne with carbonara sauce, and finally Bubbleology - where they serve amazing bubble tea.

Charlotte - bread and wine, was a highlight of my Friday morning. I wish I could have enjoyed it more though. All because of the rush we were in. It took us awhile to get to its location and we had pretty limited time, having to travel fast to reach the Coppernicus Science Center before our reservation was overdue. Warsaw is much bigger than any city I have ever lived in. It's always tough and pretty unusual to find myself among its traffic and numerous bus stops of the same name. My friends know me for always working it all out and I cannot say that one day I will intentionally stop being the compass and the brain of our travelling. Below you can see the beautiful view that one is able to observe while sitting outside of Charlotte.

Oh! And what's most important, I had my fix of Pumpkin Spice Latte, so this autumn is going to be amazing, I can feel it in my bones! All in all, it was an amazing trip, full of fun, great food and restless exploring. I somehow feel like it was a once in a lifetime call, and I am so thankful for it! :)

Soon enough I am moving back to my beloved B. This summer made me live out of a suitcase, going back and forth. I have two places now, and travelling so much doesn't let any of them turn unreal. I am a travelling junkie and I find it so unbelievably exciting to be some place new. I hope that despite my uni starting again on the 29th, I will be able to get away once in awhile and share some stories with you through my photographs.

If you're travelling to Warsaw and want to visit the same places as we did, check those links out :) Makaroni, Charlotte - bread and wine, Curry House, Coppernicus Science Center, Bubbleology.

Speak soon :)
