I'm a sucker for visuals. I'm a sucker for pretty places and their pretty logos. And delicious beverages I'm about to drink in a moment. Half of my friends, or generally people I hang out with, think I'm weird for taking pictures of food or coffees I'm having. The other half just thinks I'm a hipster and rarely mentions the fact. Anyway, I feel like everyone, at some point, judges me for it. And what's more pointless than taking pictures of food? Caring about other people's opinions, because you know what? Most of the time they don't really judge you, because they don't care enough to do that. And even if they did, they would forget about it in a second. The rest is in your head. So I'd say, chill out, have fun, if you love that sandwich you've just made yourself and you want a snap of it, then do it & enjoy it. (Alright, that doesn't apply to people constantly whining that they need to lose some kgs, being constantly on a diet, but posting food pictures to their Instagram every five minutes. That will most likely drive me nuts.)

I THINK EVERYTHING IN LIFE IS ART. WHAT YOU DO. HOW YOU DRESS. THE WAY YOU LOVE SOMEONE, AND HOW YOU TALK. YOUR SMILE AND YOUR PERSONALITY. WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN, AND ALL YOUR DREAMS. THE WAY YOU DRINK YOUR TEA. HOW YOU DECORATE YOUR HOME. OR PARTY. YOUR GROCERY LIST. THE FOOD YOU MAKE. HOW YOUR WRITING LOOKS. AND THE WAY YOU FEEL. LIFE IS ART. —HELENA BONHAM CARTER

I finally started to socialize again! Honestly, that little break I had was the best idea ever. I still do enjoy some "me" time, for example every morning, with a coffee in my hand and on Tuesdays with a new fresh episode of Teen Wolf. I know the title might be a turn off, but considerating the fact that "teen" for American television means in their twenties, seeing a lot of shirtless guys on that show is actually not such a guilty pleasure. Oh come on, I obviously watch for the plot. Yup, and the plot's other name is Daniel Sharman.

Let's just take a moment to appreciate the fact that I finally got the full roll of perfectly exposed pictures! Yuhu! Now just let me to work on my hands so they don't shake too much when I'm photographing. Again, too much coffee. 24 out of 24, some not in their best focus, but seriously I couldn't care less. You should have seen my little happy dance when I looked at the negative. Score. A big one, at least for me. These are the first pictures that I post which are made with my new camera, Praktica MTL 3. I definitely love it. It's easy for beginners, a little heavier than my tank-like Zenit though. First time photographing with Agfa Vista Plus 200, too! A lot of lucky firsts lately.

  3. Yay for 24/24! I take pictures of my food to blog as well, mainly because I love seeing what other people's pictures of their food.

    1. I see you totally get me in the terms of THE plot. Yay! When I told my friends about this show, they basically laughed because "teen" plus "wolves" doesn't exactly bring anything particularly pleasing to mind. But seriously, they know nothing! One episode of Lahey and they would change their opinions for sure :D

Exactly, there is also this cultural aspect, for example when I'm looking for "film" & "food" on Flickr, it's always so interesting to see what people eat in different parts of the world.

  6. I wouldn't know what else to take photographs of if I were afraid to take pictures of the food I eat. :D

I used to be shy and tried to snap the pictures as quickly as I could but these days I take my time and people can stare all they want, haha!

The Praktica looks like a great camera! :)

    1. Food is always a good start, right? :D I'm slowly learning that pictures are more important than what people might think at that moment. I'm having so much fun with Praktica! I'm excited because I've started a Lomography 400 roll, and it's my favourite film so far, so I'm curious about the results of PROPERLY exposed pictures :)

  7. this place looks lovely and i think that its true that most people are not judging us because they are thinking about their own life and stuff like that...i don't take too much pictures of food because i'm always starving and the food just vanishes ahaha

  9. honestly i get too self-conscious sometimes when i take pictures and i feel like that holds me back from taking my time to capture the right photo. i'm glad you talked about this a little bit, you've definitely motivated me to stop giving a sht what people think!
i love your photographs and i wish one day i could have the guts/money to try film, too :)

  10. Photography is so much about taking risks and putting yourself in a position that other people won't. Like you said, do what you think is right for you. Who gives a thing about what other people think. They can judge but you're the one coming away with a photo you like and that you'll remember. The people judging will forget just as quickly as they judge :)

  12. Yes, it's totally normal to like photographing your food. I mean food and drinks are a pretty important (and wonderful) part of life. The only one who gets a bit annoyed at me is my boyfriend who never gets to start eating before I've photographed the food ;)

  13. Such a cute place! (and I take pictures of my food all the time but I mostly just make them for myself for some reason because they aren't really good for posting; my friends make fun of me because I have to try a gazillion different angles before I start eating/drinking :D )
